Like the 055XPROB, this is a popular tripod for DSLR owners.

Manfrotto 190XPROB Review

This a lightweight aluminum tripod for DSLR photographers that will hold up to 11 lbs (5kg). At 4 lbs, it is a smart choice if you don’t need the super-lightweight features of a carbon fiber tripod like the Manfrotto 190CXPRO3.

The legs are made up for 3 sections and like other professional tripods for DSLR photography, you will need to purchase a tripod head separately. This is a plus because you can pick the tripod head that meets your needs specifically.

The 190XPROB has a center column that can be switched and inverted so you can put your camera right on the ground, which is very useful for macro shots. The center column can also be swung over into a horizontal position without removing the head or the column – this is handy if you want to go from landscape mode (with your DSLR facing upright) to portrait mode (with your DSLR turned 90 degrees).

This tripod also features padding on two of the legs, which you’ll appreciate in cold weather and when you carry it against your shoulder.

To speed things up so you can capture that perfect shot, the 190XPROB comes with the following leg presets so you can just move one or more legs into place (this is handy on uneven ground): 25, 46, 66, and 88 degrees.

Here are the dimensions:

  • Closed length: 22.4 inches
  • Minimum height: 3.3 inches
  • Maximum height: 57.5 inches
  • Maximum height with center column down: 48 inches

As you can see, this tripod will work well for your height, however tall you may be.

One of the most popular Manfrotto tripod heads to combine with this tripod is the Manfrotto 498RC2.

Manfrotto 190XPROB Review

This tripod is very popular with DSLR shooters who don’t want the added expense of carbon fiber but who do want a strong, lightweight tripod.
